Almaleah's Artisans Mission Statement

To help artists of all styles and mediums sell their work with a reasonable commission rate for doing so.

Why Deb Created This Website

I come from an artistically talented family, either art, music or both. My brothers and I have enjoyed playing music, either in band in school, or guitar, piano or organ at home for our own enjoyment. We have also enjoyed drawing to different degrees. Our late father, when he was stationed overseas, used to draw cartoons on envelopes of letters he'd send back to the states. He played several different instruments throughout his life as well.

Photography was always a big part of our family. Each of us had our own camera since we were young, even if it was just a point-and-shoot. As we grew older, some of us have gotten the more complex cameras, some of us take some great pictures with the point-and-shoots. And look out at family reunions! Everyone's got a camera, so if a group picture is being taken, those not in the certain group being photographed have to use each person's camera to take one or two (in case the first one doesn't turn out) pictures. Our family doesn't need to be famous to feel like the paparazzi are there!

When I was in Junior High, I started drawing animals and selling them to my friends for $1.00 each. As I went through High School, I progressed to drawing someone's pet from a photograph. Everyone said I was able to get their pet's personality in the drawing. I even drew a friend's uncle's farm from a photograph, which was a lot of fun.

My favorite medium is pencil, and my favorite subject is animals. I have drawn a variety of subjects besides pets and the farm, including portraits of my brothers and a self-portrait for my parents 40th anniversary. Besides pencil, I've used acrylic paints and chalk pastels.

I have talented relatives, too. My sister-in-law does great oil paintings; one cousin has been a photographer for as long as I can remember (he's not old, by any means, just older than me) and his son paints; another cousin paints and does photography. Nieces, nephews and other cousins are artists and musicians, some professional and some just for their own enjoyment.

My husband, Larry, has a talented family as well, and we have several friends who are artists and crafters of various styles and mediums.

I know how difficult it can be for artists to sell their work, especially if they do it as a hobby and not a vocation. I already accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express and PayPal; I already have a shopping cart; and I already have other websites. Those are not things that a hobbyist would be able to set up economically.

Knowing so many people who are so talented, I decided to start Almaleah's Artisans to give artists another venue for their work without the upfront, out-of-pocket expenses. The Artisans will just have to email me the photographs of their work and a full description, including medium, price and size and whatever type of biography information they would like to have on their webpage or pages. I'll build the webpages for them, add their artwork to my shopping cart, collect the money for the purchase, including shipping, and after the payment is completed and in my account, I'll send the Artisan their payment for their artwork, less a smaller commission than most Artisans pay, and they will then ship the artwork directly to the customer. Each Artisan will also have their own email address in case they need to contact the customer or the customer wants a special order (which can also be processed through my shopping cart).

I will also promote and advertise Almaleah's Artisans to get as much exposure and traffic to the website and Artisans as possible.

Almaleah's Artisans is the place to come to find the style or medium you are looking for or selling. If you don't see it yet, please contact us at info@almaleahsartisans.com  and we will find what you are looking for.
